Exibition in Rome "Villa Torlonia Reopens " Hotel Lirico
"Riapre Villa Torlonia (Villa Torlonia reopens)"
One of the most beautiful villas in Rome and the last example of Roman cultural patronage - Villa Torlonia - has undergone major restoration.
Where: Museo di Villa Torlonia
Address: Via Nomentana, 70
The gardens have been restored to their 17th century splendour with the addition of trees, shrubs, vases and a gazebo. The lake and hill in the grounds have been recreated and the paths have been rebuilt and adorned with statues and lamps.
Architecturally too some major changes have been made to the villa. The Casino Nobile (the Grand/Main Lodge) has been restored externally (for example the Valadier fountain) and internally (including the main ballroom and the Renaissance and Egyptian halls).
The Casino also hosts a permanent exhibition of the 'Roman School' featuring 150 works by artists who lived and worked during the two world wars.
